It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Fernandes. Anthony passed away peacefully in Brampton Civic Hospital after a prolonged battle with Lupus and associated complications of the disease.
Anthony Severio Fernandes born on June 21, 1952, in Jinja, Uganda to parents Mr. and Mrs. JJ Fernandes. And, youngest of his three siblings (Cynthia and Maureen).
Anthony emigrated to London for further studies in Electronics to which he drew inspiration from his father. Anthony always valued his time in England and built lasting and meaningful friendships. After living and working in England for 20 years, he emigrated to Canada to reunite with his family after many years apart. Anthony worked as a technical analyst with Panasonic Canada where he honed his craft, skills, and passion. Anthony's quest and drive was to be a lifelong learner in pursuing his studies into his 70s! Anthony was a devoted sibling, loving uncle, and grand uncle. Anthony valued his friendships to those he kept close to him.
Anthony fought a valiant battle against Lupus and oftentimes used his faith, humor, and courage to overcome his day-to-day hardships. Anthony’s conviction, spirit, and drive best capture his personality to keep fighting no matter what the odds. Anthony will be dearly missed by the lives he touched which included his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 11am, at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Church, located at 2490 Sandalwood Pkwy E, Brampton, ON L6R 3A4.
Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest with Catholic rites at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, located at 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga, ON L5T 1N4.
