Tony: Kuya Arteng is my eldest brother. Although we weren't able to spend the most time together growing up, Kuya Arteng still looked out for us. One of my fondest memories was when I was in a hard position here in Canada, my brother let me stay over. Every time we see each other, he would share stories and memories from life back in the Philippines.
Gina: My fondest memories was when we had lived with Kuya Adi and the family. Kuya, with a kind heart, took care of the kids and I, and babysat the kids during this time. Every time we would visit, we would go get pandesal for Kuya Arteng and Tita Gloria and when we'd come visit, he'd always look so happy.
We will miss you Kuya Arteng, rest in peace Kuya.

My fondest memories of Kuya, my brother, is whenever I would visit him at his home he always takes care of me right away. He would feed me, give me water and sit beside me to make sure I am comfortable and okay. He would ask what I would like to eat, and whatever I ask for he would cook it for me. And then after I have eaten, he will ask me to go to the casino! Every time I brought him out I would see that he was always so happy. Then when it’s time for me to go home, he will always pack me food to take with me. He would say it’s so I don’t have to cook the next day. And no matter the season or temperature, he would always walk us to our car and watch us drive away. He always did that, and never missed one time.
When he was in the hospital he was still so caring. I would tell him I just came from work before going to the hospital to see him and he would try to get out of his hospital bed and tell me to sit or lie down to get some rest because he thought I was tired! He even offered to sit in the hospital chairs for the visitors so we could sit down on his bed. He would still offer us food when we would visit him in the hospital. He would offer the food the hospital gave him! We would eat a little bit of it sometimes because I can see that he is happier when he knows he is taking care of us.
When he got into an accident I would visit him in the hospital every day after work. He would ask the nurses for extra food, like jello cups and cups of milk, and hide it somewhere so that I could eat something when I come to visit him!
Kuya was a very caring brother and took care of his family. I miss him very much.

Artemio was my brother. Kuya Arteng was such a beautiful and kind person. He always had a smile on his face whenever I saw him. Even though the age gap was quite extensive, as there was ten siblings, we still became quite close later on in life. Your passing is sad, but it brought the entire family closer. The Recana family [A.J., my son, Ariel, my husband, and myself] will miss you dearly.

The passing of my Lolo took a big chunk of my heart. I remember seeing his smile and how it lit up the whole room. I remember going with him to daisy mart just so he wont be alone while buying some lotto tickets. One of my favorite memories was hearing him hum or clap along whenever I played some music. I love you Lolo. Your teaching helps me understand our values. You will forever be in my heart.

So many wonderful memories it’s hard to pick just one or two. The one thing I remember the most is when you were able to get a smile from him it was the brightest and most infectious smile that it would always make me smile just seeing him smile. He was always so thoughtful of others and never wanted a free ride and always helped out with anything he could. I personally will miss him greatly and I know my wife and daughter do too. It’s the worlds loss to lose such a kind and generous, courteous and considerate person.
