In loving memory of David Anthony Aleong, who passed peacefully after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. David will be remembered by his loving wife Jennifer, his children, Michelle (Jeremy), Richard (Jessica), and Nicole (John), and his grandchildren Asher, James, and Sophie. He was a warm, jovial, and helpful man who enjoyed hosting family gatherings, working in his garden, and taking pictures to capture life’s moments. His mother, siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces, friends and neighbours will always remember David as the man behind the camera.
David was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He immigrated to Canada after college to pursue more studies in electrical engineering at the University of Toronto. He loved long road trips, camping adventures, and ensuring there were a thousand photo stops along the way.
David was proud of his accomplishments and the people he worked with in the field of telecommunications, software development, and quality assurance. His “if you’re going to do it, do it right” attitude set a gold standard work ethic for those around him.
David enjoyed service and for many years applied his energy and talent as the webmaster at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. He used his self-taught skills to enhance and retouch digital family photos. His love for travel led him to take many trips, visiting several countries and cruising around the world.
The family wishes to thank everyone who has cared for and supported David at Brampton Civic Hospital and Wellspring Cancer Support Chinguacousy. David’s recipes, cooking, and love will live on in our hearts forever and he will be dearly missed.
The family invites relatives and friends to share their memories of David during a visitation held at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre in Brampton, Ontario on Friday August 29 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 30 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 44 Church St. E., Brampton, ON, at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow in the Great Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Food Bank (https://standrewsbrampton.ca/) or Wellspring Cancer Support Chinguacousy (https://wellspring.ca/chinguacousy/).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.andrewscommunityfuneralcentre.com for the Aleong family, which will be memorialized into a book.
