I never had the chance to get to know Gerald at law school as we were a couple years apart; every time I saw him he had a smile on his face. My deepest condolences to Gerald's family and friends.

I am really shocked and saddened to hear about Gerald's death. He was a great person who took the time to get to know everyone around him and he will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. 

I was Kwaku's Form Teacher and one of his Art Teachers at Queen's College, Barbados.I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of his passing. He was a highly intelligent, kind and congenial young man even at that tender age. My heart goes out to his parents, sister and extended family as I cannot imagine their devastation at such a loss. It has been wonderful to read of his post-QC life in all of these tributes and the facebook comments. I learnt of the date and time of the funeral when it was too late to attend. He seems to have touched so many lives in his short stay on earth. All of us who knew him are richer for that privilege. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to Gerald's family.  I met him while working at a conference which he was also attending due to his vocation.  I requested some information to help my son and without hesitation, Gerald offered his assistance.

My deepest condolences to the Boamah family.  He has been a good friend and colleague.  We studied French together when he was starting at Foreign Affairs. I even helped bought his first car.  I am truly shocked.

Hi Gerald, 

I thought you were just being busy during the holidays visiting and perhaps home to Barbados to be with your family. I am still in denial and have a real hard time accepting that you have left us to be with our lord. You are young and so full of life.

You are a big believer and supporter of what we do while you were Canadian Trade Commissioner. Our relationship grew to become more than just a case file. I am blessed to have known you and have you called me bro.

I have fond memories and enjoyed the time we spent together immensely; trying all kinds of island food, and beer, every chance we got. But I mostly treasure our numerous lengthy conversations. I am going to miss your reassuring voice, big time!

Please be known that you will be remembered in eternity, more than a nice person and more than the picture we took in front of the Terry Fox memorial, for our initiative to create community-based shipping cooperatives for rural and remote First Nation communities, would not have happened if we did not make the long 18-hour road trip together to help you settle in Thunder Bay. I am so proud of you for your strong conviction to become a lawyer as an experienced student. 

We have invested way too much time and effort on SmartCommunity in the past few years, I will continue to provide you with updates. Love you bro, I am sure I can count on you to watch over our project and wish us luck from above.

To the Boamah family, I am sorry I missed the opportunity to celebrate Gerald's brief yet impactful life with you in person.

The Class of 2019, and Section B in particular, at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law has lost a truly incredible colleague; Gerald was an intelligent, welcoming, and kind hearted individual. Gerald really embodied the passion and drive that it takes to become a great lawyer. While he will be missed in our classes, Gerald's spirit and memory will live on. He was an intelligent and articulate man, I respected him a great deal. I was looking forward to getting to know Gerald better this winter semester. I know i speak for all of 1L, especially section B, when I say he will be missed dearly.

I'm very shocked and saddened  to hear about Gerald's passing away. We joined the department around the same time and worked in CSL for a few months together but remained friends even after I left DFAIT. He was articulate and always keen to question received wisdom and challenge assumptions. I'll always remember his laughter and great sense of humour. He was just about to start a new chapter in his life with his legal studies at Lakehead. He would have made a great contribution.

I had the great fortune of working with Gerald at Global Affairs,where his warmth, good-humour and easy-going nature were matched by his sharp intellect, quick wit and insightful, thoughtful approach to life. Gerald and I interviewed together for the foreign service many years ago; he was so very young at the time, but it was obvious to everyone almost immediately just how personable, intelligent and helpful he was going to be as a future colleague.
