When we Nanay, Anna, Jj & I first came to Canada, Jam was just a baby — and from the very start, we witnessed the grace of God in her life. She grew into a happy, energetic little girl. I still remember how she would slide down the stairs on her belly, laughing, the carefree spirit that was uniquely hers.

She was incredibly smart and a quick learner. I rarely ever saw her study, yet she always get high grades. Her talents seemed endless — from sketching beautifully to playing instruments with ease. Everything she touched, she did with quiet excellence.

Jam had a gentle, quiet presence. She wasn’t loud, but her spirit was full. Despite her calm demeanor, she was always adventurous and unafraid to try new things — whether it was at school, in the arts, or joining activities like ice skating and skiing. She embraced life with both courage and grace.

Jam, you have lit up our lives in ways we will never forget. Thank you for all the memories — each memory will linger with us and stay in our hearts forever. We will miss you deeply. Ninang will miss you. I love you, Bebe.

Jam, I felt the pain of a father who lost her daughter,  it was too early for a departure but God has ushered you in His very presence.  Thank you for the time you committed to the Lord  when you served with us as an usher,  You were always there when scheduled, always willing to help and never complained.   We will miss your quiet and gentle spirit,  your sweet smile.  This is not a goodbye but we will meet again, one day, in God’s kingdom.  That’s the only comfort  we hold in our heart.  Thank you Jam… we missed you already.  God bless your soul🙏

Condolences to a sweet girl who left us far too soon. I’ve known her since the day she was born. I was the “big sister” to all the babies and kids from church. I would put her to sleep, change her diaper, even put cream on her little eczema spots on her cheeks. We lived together at one point, and I spent so many mornings before school and afternoons after, playing with her and siblings. They were such a big part of my childhood, all the way through high school. Every weekend, every family trip—we grew up together. They were my sisters. 

I still remember how excited she was knowing we were finally coming to visit. I’m so grateful I had the chance to bring my own family back to Ontario and watch my kids meet her. It felt like a full-circle moment seeing her play with them. And the bracelet she and Zammy made for me was in my favourite colour. I will treasure this forever.

Before we left, we talked about their plans to visit us in Calgary. We were all looking forward to it. But I’m so thankful that God allowed such a timely visit… not our last goodbye, but a gentle “I’ll see you again.” Like I wrote in the letter to both of you girls: I will always be your Ate Joy. Even though we’re miles apart, you’re always in my heart. That will never change.

Rest in peace, Jammy. I’ll miss seeing your photos, watching you grow, and witnessing your joy. But your beautiful smile will stay with us—forever in our hearts.

I am grateful and blessed for the life of Jam and being able to growup with her. She was a family friend and also a sister to me like to many others. 

Jam was smart, kind, quiet, a person that you can talk and relate to with no awkwardness possible.

We spent lots of time together as we lived for some time in their house, that she basically became a sister to me just like Zam. Growing up with her, I have many happy memories, laughing, and playing, I can go on and on, Every moment spent with her was memorable no matter how big or small. 

Though Jam was quiet, you can tell that she had so much joy and happiness, that was contagious to others. I will forever cherish the memories such as funny prank calls and texts, eating, laughing, playing, talking together and even more. 

I will miss her doorbelling our front door along with her family for parties, holding her Moms tasty spaghetti. I will miss our family trips,  swimming, kayaking, escape rooms, arcade , seeing who can hold their breath longer underwater though she always beat me, those beautiful simple memories are stored in my heart forever.

At church, she was quiet too, but by having the willing heart that wanted to serve God, she got out of her comfort zone with the ushering ministry. Greeting people with a smile, welcoming people with a calm voice, ushering people to their seats and more. You can tell God was using her as a beacon of light to spread his word through her kindness and pure heart. I will miss serving God with her in the church community. 

Psalm 34:18 which says :The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Through this, we can trust God is with us in this hard time. Knowing that Jam is safe, happy and in a better place with God. Her life here may have been short, but her life with Jesus Christ is now eternal.

Jam, you will forever be missed and loved. Till we meet again, in Heaven, my sister and friend. Thank you.

You have always been my favourite companion. Whenever I felt like doing a fun activity, I knew that I could always count you in because you were always up for all my ideas and adventures - teaching you how to skate, ski, and even rollerblade together in our garage. We would practice speaking in French because you were so good at it. You would sit in my room and play Fortnite even while I’m studying for exams, just happy to be together. You were always by my side and I’m sorry that I didn’t get to be by yours more often. I wish I got to spend more time with you in this lifetime. I will miss the comfort and sweetness that you bring whenever I’m around you.

Jam, you carried so much grace in everything that you had done. You were incredibly smart, a talented artist, full of life and full of potential. I wish we had more time to witness you fulfill all your hopes and dreams. But even now, I am so so proud of everything that you have accomplished in your life.

Thank you for bringing such light and joy into our lives. You were a gift to all of us - one we will carry in our hearts forever. Your love will always be evergreen.

To our beautiful Jam, this is my love letter to you.

Today, as we gather to honour your life, it feels too surreal that you are gone. My heart aches every time I think of you. I will miss your smile, your laugh, the way you call me Kuya JJ and all the wonderful moments we’ve had together. To me, you have always been - and will forever be - my little sister. 

We met as cousins and you were just a baby but growing up with you felt like a lifetime of adventures. These memories are treasures I will hold onto forever. When I was still in school, you have always been the superstar for my school projects. I’ll never forget how fun it was filming a parody commercial for the Japanese snack Pocky with you even though you were throwing tantrums as a baby. I was so proud of the final product we created together because not just because I got 100% but because it was a masterpiece. I still come back to watch it whenever I think of you.

Our heart breaks with your family as you grieve the loss of sweet Jam. We met her when she was just a baby, and for almost six years we were blessed to watch her grow. Even after all that time apart, reuniting with her again this year felt like no time had passed at all. Her smile was still the same—bright, full of life, and impossible to forget.

It brings comfort knowing she is now resting safely in the arms of our Heavenly Father, whole and surrounded by His perfect peace. Though her time here was far too short, the joy she carried and the light she brought into every room will stay in our hearts forever.

Ate Jam, there are no amount of words that express how much I miss you. I miss your laugh, your smile, your constant care over me. I miss our late night talks together and our late night watching. You introduced me to many interests that I never looked at twice. Shows I’ve never seen, Games I’ve never played, Music I’ve never listened to, Interests I never looked at. There are many lessons I have learned from you. In you, there was a passion for whatever you chose to do. I loved hearing the beautiful music you play from your clarinet, saxophone and drums.  I enjoy cheering you on in concerts. You look so focused and I was happy to see you play. Even through the fights and banter, you always took care of me, asking why I was crying or even helping me with math. Math isn’t my strongest subject, and you still helped me when you were busy. Whenever it is time for dinner or lunch, you always call me over and ask me to watch something while we eat. Even when I am tired and just want to sleep, you still ask to watch something with me. I’m happy, overjoyed, to have you as my Ate. I always look up to you as a sister and a role model. You are a beautiful image of God, an example I will forever look towards. You have the kindest soul and most wonderful heart for others. I will always remember the light you bring into the world, the impact you made on many people you encountered. Ate Jam, you are always with us, in our hearts and with God in Heaven. I hope when I watch the shows we didn’t finish, you are also watching them with me. I love you so much and thank you for everything.

Reflection for Jam speech Nov. 21 (part 2)

To me, Jam is a mirror of Divine Grace, Goodness, Mercy and Love. I see the image of her face in the face of Christ.

 Jam, I vow to you to honour you by following in your example. To be an instrument of peace in the world because you’ve shown us that it is possible. To be someone else’s calm during a surge of anxiety. 

I can’t wait to see you again someday, knowing in the Lord is the resurrection and the life. And for now I will continue to seek you amidst all of the memories we have and within the beautiful things in this present moment. Because I know that this is not goodbye, and within all things radiant and joyous in this life is where you truly rest. 

God is good all the time— and in this certainty, may we all place our trust.

Reflection for Jam speech, Nov. 21. (part 1) 

Thank you to the Mama-O family for allowing me to share the impact that Jam’s light has made on us all. I want to express my deepest condolences to you all for this incredibly difficult loss. I would like to reach a hand out to you all and offer any help and prayer I can give to you. 

These past days, for many of us, have been filled with feelings of confusion. Of anger. Of sadness. Of guilt. And when I think of the moments I’ve had with Jam, I notice that none of these feelings have ever once come from her.  

Jam has never made me confused, or question her intentions. She was always authentic and kind. She never angered me, nor did I ever see her lose her temper with anyone who upset her. Her temperament was one of peace and serenity. She was slow to anger. Jam has never made me feel sadness. She always offered sympathy in times of anguish. When I struggled with feelings of sadness and isolation, Jam smiled at me and simply told me she missed me when I wasn’t in class. She never made me feel sad, but when I was sad, she was sad for me, and with me. There are few people who give themselves over in empathy like this. We may be overcome by feelings of regret. But Jam would have never wanted anyone to feel guilty about themselves. She would never take revenge on a hurtful person. 

Judging by her nature, I believe that Jam was not only a kind, calm and gentle person, but a person who through every breath, word and action, was striving for sanctity— a must for all of us. Jam exemplified this perfectly. She kept us grounded and humble, and through her patience and her example, she makes me want to be a better person.

As a daughter.  The best to describe heris gentle and loving will always be. So quiet that she does not like anything that is loud.
All the good things you have seen and been touch are genuine and truth of her.  She is of Gods image bearer.  We will hold dearly and share.
The most that I will miss of her Is the Lightest warmest hug that is all pure heart.

(Gemma)  We thank God for allowing us to be your parents.  Jam is very energetic, smart, loving daughter, sister and a friend.  I will miss everything about you.  When I order tea for we like the same, for blowing dry and fixing your hair.  For driving you to every where you want to go, I will miss you going to concerts,  you never demand anything and always say it’s up to you Ma, I will miss you saying “Ma I have a question”.  I will miss you lying beside me as we our nightly prayers, I will miss your love to us and your siblings especially your embrace. Part 1 of 2

Hello everyone, I am Kanchi, one of Jam's friends from high school. 

I like to think I know jam pretty well. With all the countless hours we’ve spent together, mostly laughing, it’s hard to talk about someone who has brought so much joy and light into your life with grief and loss. 

I’ll admit our friendship was an odd pairing for someone who has to make a mental note to be nicer to be so close to someone who is a ray of sunshine, but our friendship clicked and just worked, and I am so grateful to know the beautiful daughter and sister you have raised and to be able to consider and love her family. 

Whether you knew Jam closely or not, it's undeniable that the way she lights up a room and makes the place feel brighter. From her cheesy puns and questionable dad jokes that were occasionally pretty good, you could always rely on jam to put a smile on your face and to keep it there all day. She's the friend who demolishes you in Mario Kart and then tells you it's okay cause you tried and that you'll do better next time when you're mad. Anyone who's met Jam will agree that she is such a selfless, kind, funny and considerate person. 

Some people aren’t here for very long, but they leave a lasting impact. The moment I befriended Jam, I was met with her bubbly personality and kind soul immediately, despite not being close friends then. When you befriend someone like Jam, you search for parts of her in other people, hoping to find someone who shares some resemblance, but soon you realize that she truly is one of a kind and that no one can compare. 

 It feels unfair to have known someone so wonderful for what feels like such a short time. We often spoke of our future and growing, and one day working together. It’s hard to imagine that all the firsts we planned on having side by side will pass, and she won’t be there. But I know that even if I can hold her or see her, she’ll be there because I’ll feel it. I know she’s here watching over me and rolling her eyes at every ba

Jam was one of the sweetest girls I knew. She never failed to make me smile in grade 12 biology. We didn't know each other very well, but I remember smiling at her in the hallway, or zipping up her backpack because it was always slightly open. She added so much happiness to so many peoples lives, and I will miss her greatly. May she rest in peace. Miss you so much Jam 🕊

It was in the 9th grade French class where I first met Jam. I remember feeling very shy, but encouraged enough to go up and introduce myself to this very kind looking girl. Little did I know this would be one of the best decisions of my life. Who knew I would gain such an amazing lifelong friend? Our earliest times together consisted of sitting together in French, and having fun. In the 11th grade, I was so excited to share chemistry class with her.  The amount of care and love I felt from her was like no other.  My most favorite memory with Jam was how I would make her laugh and smile when I would affectionately call her Jam n Toast, or Jammy Jam! I’m going to miss her gentle smile. Another fun memory I had with her was when for Halloween, she dressed up as Cherry Jam from Strawberry Shortcake, and I was the only one who managed to guess her adorable costume. I wish I had taken a photo that day. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any classes together in our final year of high school, but that didn’t diminish our bond. We had a spare together, and I was lucky enough to have a couple hang outs with her where we would catch up and talk. True to her name, Jam is like a precious gem, the closer you got to her, the brighter and brighter she shined. I’m so grateful I got to hug her and tell her how much she meant to me and that I love her.  Isaiah 40:29-31 says “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint”. In this time, remember God loves you. I will forever cherish the lovely memories Jam and I made together. I will forever remember her as my extra big sister, my loyal study buddy and my best friend.

At graduation, one of the first things I did was find my dear friend and give her a big hug. I’m so glad we took this photo to commemorate the occasion.

Known you Jam a very cheerful baby and you grow up a fine quiet lady. We will miss you Jam and still can’t say anything right. We will forever beside your mommy and daddy.

She was always quiet, soft-spoken, the kind of person who didn’t need many words to make you feel her presence. But there was this one moment I’ll never forget, I think that moment was our longest time spent and the funniest one.  We were waiting for so long in one of the rides at wonderland, when we decided to play charades. She and her sister, Zam, were laughing so hard, I myself was surprised. It was so unexpected and so pure. For someone so shy, that small burst of joy said everything about the heart she carried. I hold onto that memory so tightly now. It reminds me that even the quietest souls leave the loudest impact. I’m grateful I got to witness that beautiful side of her.

Remembrance Speech for "JAM" 

Today, we gather with heavy hearts to remember someone so simple, so precious, so quiet, so deeply loved , always smiling… and gone far too soon. Losing her so suddenly has left a pain that words can barely touch, but love asks us to speak, to honour her, to keep her light alive. 

It’s impossible to understand why someone so young, so full of promise, is taken from us. The suddenness of her passing leaves us shocked, broken, still searching for breath. But even in our pain, we choose to remember her not for how she left, but for how she lived. 

As we say goodbye, let us hold on to the love she gave, the memories she left, and the light she shared so effortlessly. She may no longer be here physically, but her spirit — that gentle, beautiful spirit — will always remain with us. 

To my goddaughter JAM,  thank you for the joy you brought to your family, your friends, your classmates the love you gave. You were a gift to us , a gift we will forever treasure. We will miss you,  you may no longer be here with us, but your  memory and your  beautiful spirit will stay in our hearts forever ♥

I had the pleasure of teaching Jam in Grade 10 math. She was a quiet, thoughtful presence in the room—someone who listened intently, worked diligently, and carried herself with a calm determination. Her work ethic and quiet strength made a lasting impression. 

My deepest condolences to her family and friends during this heartbreaking time. Jam’s kindness and dedication will not be forgotten.

Jam was a light in this world. 

Anytime she walked in, I would always smile and feel a bit better about my day—she just had that sunshine around her.

Whether it was late-night rehearsals or before a terrible chemistry test, Jam was always there in a way that made everything feel less heavy.

I remember working with her for ISUs; everything that could have gone wrong did, or nearly did, but Jam was one less worry. I knew I could rely on her without fear.

She was quiet, but her impact never was.

Her memory leaves us now to reflect and to honour her. 

We should all ask ourselves, “How can be a bit better today? Make someone smile?”

I wish her family strength during this time and forevermore.

Although we lost contact over the years, I will always remember Jam as the kindest, smartest, sweetest and most caring person. She always had a smile on her face and would spread her positive energy to everyone around her. She was loved by so many people. I feel honoured that I had the chance to be her friend throughout elementary and middle school. To her family, I’m wishing you strength, peace and comfort during this time.

It was a pleasure and privilege to be one of Jam’s music teachers at Mayfield. She was so smart, joyful, and had a quiet humour that would brighten my day! She would create little comic strips for me that would end in a funny punchline or some unexpected cliffhanger. I kept these silly comic strips taped up around my desk area because they made me smile, just like Jam did! Praying for her family and friends as you walk through this next season of life and continue to trust in God’s greater plan. ❤️

Though I don’t know Jam the best, we did music together for 4 years and that in itself created a quiet bond between us and all of our peers.  She was a very sweet girl who bounced off of energy and she will be remembered daily. Wishing the Mama-O family strength and resilience and grace from God in these uneasy times.

Because of you, I’m learning to find beauty in everything. In creation, in friendship, in suffering, remembrance. I feel your presence within all good things, and I hope to take refuge in the Lord’s gifts of grace, patience and compassion during all bad things— just as you have. I have met no one in life who has your radiance and your serene disposition. Jam, I pray to be even half of the person that you are. What a joy and privilege it is to have spent my high school years with you. The “United Nations” would not be the same without you. You brought me so much comfort in life, and even now your memory and spirit, still lingering within our hearts, continues to bring me warmth. The Lord has made us certain that by our faith in Him we have eternal life. He urges us to put our hope in His Resurrection. When I look at Him, all I can see is you, Jam. All the beautiful qualities of Christ, I see in you. You walk directly in the footprints of our saviour.  My  favourite memory of you now was visiting Kim’s lavender farm. I look at those photos of you and they are all perfect. The beauty around you and the smile on your face in all of these just encompasses everything wonderful I see in you. I don’t even know if these strings of words make any sense, but I hope when you hear them, you know the message I’ve received from your life. That is, one of gracefulness, tranquility and beauty.  You are my “Mirror of Christ” — and these words have been carved deep into my heart. You reflect His glory. How beautiful it is to see you in Him. Psalm 139 says there is nowhere we can go to flee His presence. And now to me, in God’s omnipresence, your light is there also. Sing loudly in heaven for us, and sing to the Lord beautiful songs of praise. One day, in His timing we will join you there too, to bask in His Light, side by side for all eternity. Love you.

It was truly an honour to be a friend of Jam. When I look back on her legacy the only word that comes to mind is kindness. I remember the first time we spoke to each other in our Sound and Lighting class. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that we had very similar interests, and we shared many laughs that day. I will dearly miss our conversations and texts regarding Pokémon, cooking mama, and Smosh, but most of all I will miss her perpetual kindness, warmth, and smile. Rest in peace Jam 🕊️💐
