Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter Jill (Vyse) and her family, daughter Ann (Rankin) and her family, daughter Lyn(Fletcher) and her family, son (Graham) and his family, and Jane (Richards) and her family!
Jean was born in London, England. The only child of Thora and Reg Davey. She spent most of her time (in her younger years) in London. Due to WWII, she was evacuated away from London, which had a profound effect on her.
She attended a 21st birthday party where she met her future husband Leslie George Stanford. They married in April 1955 and had 52 great years together!
They had 4 children when they decided to emigrate to Canada in 1964. Les travelled ahead to get a job and set up a home for the family. Jean and the 4 kids travelled by ship in May 1964 and met up with Les in Toronto.
In 1965 Jean and Les got involved with the New Apostolic Church where they met and made many friends! They enjoyed the fellowship they had within the church! In 1966, they moved to Bramalea where the family lived for many years in the "C" section. Mum gave birth to Jane that year as the only Canadian born in the family.
In their later years, Jean and Les enjoyed travelling, especially cruises.
They even did a Hawaiian cruise!
After Les died in October 2007, Jean continued travelling, trips to England, Mediterranean cruise, time in China, and Scandinavian cruise with a stopover in Iceland. During that time she also sold her house and moved into a condo which she really enjoyed.
During the Covid years, Jean (like many others) felt the loneliness that came with isolation! There was not a lot of getting together and sharing even a tea!
She needed more help than her family could give and moved into Greenway Retirement Home! From there, she moved into Maple Grove Care Community which gave her lots of help and loving.
Jean will be missed as much for her nails as her sense of humour.
R.I.P. Mum! We will miss you!
