Johanna is survived by her two children, Johannes (late Carole) and Leopold (Wanda) as well as her granddaughter Liane.
Johanna was born in Assen in the Netherlands in 1928. She grew up in the difficult times of the Great Depression of the 1930s and the Nazi occupation of Holland during World War II. In 1951 she was married to Geert Westerhof and had a son Johannes in the following year. In 1953, she immigrated with her family to Canada. A second son, Leopold, was born in 1966.
She worked as a dental chairside assistant both in Holland and then in Canada.
Johanna was a dedicated member of the Salvation Army and served at various times as a member of the choir, a horn player in the band and an organist. She participated as a volunteer in many of the church's community outreach programs. She loved people but also had a real passion for animals.
Johanna will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice
