John Hollywood

John was the beloved husband of Helen Hollywood, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever.

John will be remembered for the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lasting impact he had on his family. His greatest legacy will always be the family he loved so dearly and the many lives he touched throughout the years.

John was a beloved father to Caroline (Dave), Annette (Martin), John (Kelley), and Michelle (Denis) and son-in-law Mike.

He was a proud grandfather to Jamie, Brandon (Kaillie), Stefan (Constance), Scott (Maria), Patrick, Corey, Taylor (Ryan), Rachel (Brett), Jordan, Breanna, Noah, Natalie (Patrick), and Cole.

John was also a loving great-grandfather to Jack, Charlie, Ava, Harper, Addison, Owen, Devon, Nathan, Raegen, Abigail, and Lucy.

He was a loving brother to his late sister Margaret and his in laws Maureen (predeceased Tony), predeceased Michael (Patricia), and Eileen (Campbell).

John will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Gary (Marianne), Angela (Bobby), James, Karen (Ashley), Diane (Colin), Debra (Kevin), Cheryl (Derek), Lisa (Barry), Steven (Kirsten), and Denise (Eddie).

His family was his greatest source of pride and joy, and the love he shared with them will continue through every generation.

Though he is no longer with us, John’s memory will live on in the stories shared, the traditions carried forward, and, most importantly, in the hearts of the family he loved so much.

John was a man whose life was filled with hard work, family, football, hockey, and plenty of unforgettable little quirks. He was proud to have helped with the construction of the CN Tower, leaving behind a small piece of his work in one of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks. He also spent 25 years working at McDonnell Douglas, building airplanes.

And then there were the little things that made John, John, the things his family will remember and laugh about for years to come. His amazing, mashed totties will forever be talked about, and his grandchildren would like to formally apologize for the countless times they somehow managed to lose the TV converter. The TV was rarely quiet, with the volume seemingly set to 100 — because if you could still hear the TV from the other room, it clearly wasn’t loud enough!

John was a passionate supporter of Glasgow Celtic Football Club and the Toronto Maple Leafs, always ready to cheer on his teams. Anyone who knew John and Helen in recent years knew there was a good chance he would eventually steal Helen’s phone, settle in comfortably, and scroll through Facebook as though it had always been his. There was also the unforgettable sight of John’s teeth sitting in a jar on the counter, a familiar part of the household that somehow became just another normal part of life with him.

These are the moments that will be missed most, the funny little habits, the familiar routines, the teasing, the laughter, his cheeky personality, and all the everyday memories that made him such a special part of his family’s lives.
