This is indeed a sad day for all of us.  We have lost such a great person.  I hope sharing our grief will help us ease our burdens.  Paul was a man that was kind and generous.  He never asked anybody for help but he was a very generous man, and he never wanted to be acknowledged for anything he did.  When he helped, he simply helped.  
I don't think I could ever remember a time when Uncle Paul was negative towards anything.  He always seemed to have a spring in his step, and happy even if just for the simple things.  I can remember one particular night when we were in Malta, we were going out with a group of people to my parents friend's house.  I was going with Uncle Paul and we were following someone to a house where this get together was.  The guy that we were following was driving like a maniac and we eventually lost him.  I was mad... but Uncle Paul wasn't.  Instead he decided that he was hungry.  We found this nice restaurant and had a great dinner.  I remember we had these sauteed mushrooms as an appetizer.  Uncle Paul was just delighted.  He thought they were great, so much so that he called out the chef to compliment him.  He was thrilled with his whole dinner, and at the end he turned to me and said "You know what?  I am so glad we got lost.  This was a great night!"  Although I was about 20 years old at the time, this was my first lesson in 'making lemonade when life gives you lemons'.  Its something that I still think about to this day, when things don't go quite right, and its something that Uncle Paul taught me on that day.
Let us be thankful for all the special moments that my uncle has left us.  And with that, I hope that my uncle will continue to live on within our hearts and minds.

I am sad to say that today we are saying goodbye to a wonderful man who has joined the angels above.
I'm sure that each and everyone of you here today has a special story on how my uncle touched your life in some way.  He embraced life, family and friends.  He never ceased to believe that tomorrow was an opportunity and refused to let yesterdays disappointments put an end to his dreams for the future.
Uncle Paul was an amazing person.  He was a kind, generous, thoughtful, gentle man who had a smile that would light up a room.  The love that he had for his family and friends was unconditional and he quickly extended his hand whenever someone needed help.  His family was his life and his legacy will live on through his wife Nellie, sons Gary & Bryan and his granddaughter Caitlin.  
I know that I will hold my memories of him close to my heart.  I cannot believe that he will not be there for any of our family gatherings.  He would smile, joke around and yes, sometimes even giggle if he say something really funny.
To all his friends who helped him and my Aunt Nellie during these two years, making sure he got to medical appointments, brightening his day with a visit - we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  True friends shine during times like these and you all did.

Uncle Paul battled cancer for almost 2 years and the end of his battle was fought at Bethel House in Caledon.  Surrounded at all times by his family and friends, he lost his battle, but not without a fight.  Uncle Paul spent his last 8 days at Bethel House - a place where he was treated with dignity and respect.  My Aunt Nellie never left his side and took care of him hand and foot.  
His wife Nellie, my dear sweet aunt, never left him and was there for his every need.  You honored him right to the end, you are an angel Auntie Nellie  -  you really are.  We will feel his loss for a long, long time.  He was such a wonderful person.  I can remember going to visit him at the mall.  When I would ask for him out front, he would come out so proud that his niece was there.  He would announce to everyone that his niece was here to see him -  he was so proud and made me proud to go and see him.  When I got my first house he brought me a tabletop antique wind up clock.  I just love it and every time I look at it I will remember how excited he was to give it to me.  My childhood is filled with fond memories of Christmas dinners and summers in the pool at their old house.  We, his nieces and nephews, could do no wrong.  He always tried to make us laugh with jokes and humor, that was our Uncle Paul.
He was the type of person that always welcomed you in his home and would give you the shirt off his back.
You will never be forgotten Uncle Paul, I will always remember your wit, your smile and wonderful personality.

I was so fortunate to call Paul a dear client and a wonderful friend and I will miss him so much even though we didn't have much contact in the last few years.  I loved going to see him in the store and talking about to him about his family and his business and his lovely island of Malta.  I will especially miss his sometimes not so clean jokes!  He had some good ones.  He was one of the most wonderful people I have had the priviledge to know and I hope he is at peace now.

Paul opened his heart and home to me.  Right from the first time I met him, he made me feel like we'd known each other forever. Paul repaired and maintained our family grandfather clock and antique mantle clocks for decades, and became a good friend to my family. A visit to the City Centre was never complete until I stopped by the store to chat. How can one describe the loss of such a good person?  Sincere condolences to the entire Costa family.

Paul Anthony Costa.  He was a generous and wonderful man who embraced life, family and friends.  His cup was always half full and never half empty.  He just couldnt be negative about anything.  He always saw the goodness in a person, extended his hand when help was needed.  He was devoted to my sister Nellie and loved to see her smile, especially if that smile was due to one of his special surprises.  I am so grateful that he was part of our family.   He faced the last two years with dignity and courage.  Paul, may you be at peace in the arms of Jesus.  We love you, always.
