Beloved husband of Louise (née Wilkins). Loving father of Philip and Kim (Tom), and cherished Papa of Paget, Robert and granddog Kenya. Bob is survived by his sisters, Frances Ollerhead and Ada Bannister, and predeceased by his parents, Virginia (née Penwell) and Philip Gilliard, as well as his brother, Bertram (Bert) Gilliard. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Bob was a devoted family man and a steadfast pillar of integrity. In both his personal and professional life, he led with honesty, reliability, and principle. His long and respected career as an accountant reflected his strong sense of ethics and commitment to do things the right way.
Born in Grand Bank, Newfoundland, Bob’s career took him to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and later to Toronto and Brampton, Ontario, where he built a fulfilling life filled with family, laughter, and lasting friendships.
A lifelong golf enthusiast, Bob spent many joyful hours on the course and was proud to have achieved not one, but two holes-in-one over the years — a testament to both his passion and skill.
He also loved a good game of cribbage. For Bob, it was never just a card game; it was a way to connect, to think, and to share time with those he loved. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures and was always ready with an easy smile and a warm heart.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at The Ruby Restaurant (Erin Meadows Retirement Home – 12th Floor) 2930 Erin Centre Blvd. Mississauga, ON L5M 7M4
Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and raise a glass to a life well lived.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Dr Dehghani and the Oncology Department at William Osler Hospital, and to Dr. Katherine Li and Amanda MacLennan for their exceptional care and compassion.
