

Rose Olga Gallant (Salyk) after a brief illness at Brampton Civic Hospital, just 2 days prior to her 93rd birthday. Rose joins her husband, John Raymond Gallant “Ray” of 50 years who predeceased her in 2003.
Rose is survived by her son Kevin (Vicky), known as “Baba” to granddaughter Danielle Conforto (Michael) and grandson Michael Gallant (Vicki). Rose known as “Gigi” to great granddaughters Isabelle and Addison Conforto. Rose was a loving Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Rose was born on July 29th, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba but moved to Toronto with her family when she was a young girl. When Rose entered the workforce, she landed a job as a typist and eventually was promoted to supervisor with Royal Sun Alliance Insurance Company in Toronto.
Rose eventually met the love of her life, a man from Summerside Prince Edward Island, John Raymond Gallant “Ray” and they were eventually married, having one son Kevin. Along with Ray she was a devout Catholic, often volunteering and participating in various church activities.
Rose loved spending time with family. Rose enjoyed her summers at the lake and the cottage that Raymond and Rose built as a family. In retirement, she use to loved going to Florida for the winter where they could spend time with her sister and brother-in-law Ann and Edward Piedl, as well as her niece Susan Larson (Mike) and great niece and great nephew.
Rose loved to knit, especially for those that she loved; even making sure that every newborn in the family would be gifted one of her lovingly created outfits. Rose also decided to knit baby hats for the local hospital to give to each newborn baby so that they would be able to take it home with them when they left the hospital.
At the age of 92, Rose was still proud of her independence, wanting to live on her own. She lived in the same home for the past 31 years. She made cherished friendships with her neighbours who were a great source of comfort and support to her.
Rose or “Tootsie” as her sister Ann would always call her, lived a full life and will be greatly missed by all that new her.
