It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the Flint family announces the passing of Russell Flint. He passed away peacefully at Brampton Civic Hospital with his family by his side on Monday, January 22nd, 2018. Russ was a beloved husband of over 42 years to Catherine Flint. He was a loving and devoted father of Bryan (Steph) Flint, Laura (Douglas) Leslie and Fiona (Travis) Flint. Russ loved to talk about his grand-daughters and was a cherished Papa to Ellen and Isla. He also loved his wee dog, Scotty. Russ is survived by his brothers Charles of Toronto, Canada, Gordon of Stirling, Scotland and Tommy of Nottingham, England.
Russ was born in Toronto on November 5, 1954 and was the son of Thomas & the late Margaret (nee Russell) Flint. As a young baby, Russ moved back to Scotland where he grew up and spent countless hours in the Ochil Hills with his brothers. He met Catherine as young teenagers and married on September 20, 1975. As newlyweds, Russ and Cathy came to Toronto initially for a year, but eventually it became a permanent move. Russ loved the outdoors, Scottish history and classic rock music. He was truly a handyman and had the patience to fix anything or take on any project with his fine craftsmanship. Russ will always be remembered for his intelligence, his work-ethic and his kindness to others. Over the years, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Russ’ memory can be made to the Hospital for Sick Kids.
