Stephen was a great person. He had a big heart and was always putting others before himself. He may not have had much, but whatever he had he shared with his friends, family and of course his dog, Duke He was the guy everyone turned to if you had a problem that you couldn’t fix. He was skilled in so many trades and had such a natural talent for using his hands that he turned the most complicated problems into simple solutions.
My dad said the best way to describe Stephen is that he was born to be wild. He lived fast, laughed a lot and always had a new project on the go. He always had his toys, whether it was on two wheels, four wheels, on land or in the water. If Stephen could fix it up and ride it, he owned it. He spent his time living life to the fullest, climbing up massive trees, fishing, hunting and running around with his best friend Duke.
His good friend Brendan put it best, he said that Stephen was the only one who, no matter if you were right or wrong, in any situation always stuck by your side. He would risk everything if it meant helping out a friend. Stephen may have been rough around the edges, but he always had his heart in the right place
.
So although his life may have been short, it is clear that he touched many people and that is why we are all here today. It is our turn to return the favor and to be here for Stephen now as he moves on to a better life. Although his physical life has ended, he will live on in our hearts and mind forever.
