Sadly after many internet searches over the years for Steve just in case he was online,  I came across the this notice of Steve's passing. I spent about 25 years of wasting my life away on the colourful streets of this country from Gottingen Street in Halifax to Main and Hastings in Vancouvers east side.  1986 would find me in the first of many rooming houses in the Brampton area for a few years. Steve was living in the first one I moved into. Over the next couple years (and rooming houses)  I came to know Mags as a caring and funny soul who enjoyed a good drink, a good joke, and a good conversation. His measure of character found rarely in my travels. I entered a detox in 1995 to begin my road to what continues to be a work in progress to find happiness. I found myself in Brampton once again working for the summer after a couple years of school in New Brunswick during the summer of 97. I sought out and was able to find Steve now living at the Queens Hotel where we had always met and enjoyed a great crowd of drinking buddies. I was disheartened to see he was still struggling with finding a small piece of what I myself had seemed to find. I am so thankful to have such a portfolio of smile-invoking memories of our "rooming house distress" within  my minds eye.  Steve you were a top notch pal to have around when it came to understanding the human condition while enjoying a knowing smile, glance, or giggle of brotherhood.

Our Mags...who loved being with his friends, loved his friends and his friends felt the same love for him.. Our special friend has left earth for another journey. A journey in which he will meet up with his family and friends.  Mags always had a shy smile for everyone at any given moment..

Growing up as an original Addington Cres. family, we shared many happy memories growing up.  Running around on the greenbelt and going to Bramalea Secondary.  Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Stephen.

Growing up on Addington, there were the "big kids" and the "little kids". Steve was one of the acknowledged leaders of the "big kids". When the big kids weren't trouncing us at football or neighborhood-wide hide-and-seek marathons, Steve introduced us all to a wide range of vaguely dangerous influences: the Beatles, the Stones, Monty Python. I'll always be in his debt for that.  My deepest condolences to the Maxwell family.

So very sorry to hear that Steve has died. It's been a very long time, but when I see his picture I remember his lovely smile and gentle way. My heartfelt sympathy goes yo his family and friends.
