She was born on September 16, 1961 to Peter Phyllis Hopka (Belishuk) in Niagara Falls New York.
Her family moved to Clearwater Florida in 1978 where she started her professional career working for the Modern Talking Picture Service. From there she went to work for Allstate Insurance where she met her husband of 32 years, Carl
In 1994, she was blessed with the arrival of her daughter Katie and from there was completely committed to supporting her and the kids and families she grew up with. She actively participated in the parent associations at Buckhorn Elementary and Mulrennan Middle Schools and for four years helped lead the support for the Durant High School swim Team.
After Katie graduated high school, she founded her Etsy shop, Sweet Baby Burpees, where she handmade custom baby blankets using bright and colorful designs that could not be found anywhere else. Each hand made creation was packaged and shipped with great style and she always received great reviews, which she was very proud of.
Her additional great passion was hitting garage sales and vintage shops with her great friend Angela Johnson.
In 2022, Andrea was diagnosed with a lung disease that slowly progressed until it compromised her heart. Despite her deteriorating health, she kept her spirts high right until the end.
Carl and Katie were by her side when she passed away peacefully and without any pain.
She is survived by her husband Carl, daughter Katie, son in law Mathew Colvin, sister Nadine Ochs (Hopka) and their children Marshall and Lauren.
She was a wonderful wife and mother, and a great and true friend to many. We all were blessed to have known her and she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Andrea’s honor to Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties.
