SHIRLEY, Carol Jean Lingerfelt went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the age of 83. She was born in Adrian, MI, and lived in Brandon, FL. Carol was a 1950 graduate of Hillsborough High School and a member of Bell Shoals Baptist Church. As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she spent her life making her family feel loved, happy and proud. She and her husband, Coleman, loved to travel and spent ten years seeing the North American continent-- including every US state, Canadian providence, Newfoundland and Labrador. She took great pride in her faith and family, enjoyed gardening and volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Strickland, grandson, Donovan Strickland and previous husband, James Lingerfelt. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of 23 years, Coleman Shirley; sons, Jeff Strickland, Daryl Strickland; daughter, Susie Bellersen (Wilfried); sisters, Virginia Turner, Sandy Hill; 22 grandchildren; a handful of great-grandchildren; her beloved dog and best friend, Mr. Fritz. A funeral service will be held 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Bell Shoals Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
