Carter Junkin 86, died October 14, 2018. He was born to John and Bottie Junkin in Pinnacle, AR on November 10, 1931 and was their 13th child. Carter joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and served for 30 years in the US Air Force and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He also played in a band the Ozark Valley Boys which provided Country Music while stationed in Tachikawa Japan where his daughter Chrystal was born. He was last stationed in England before returning to MacDill AFB in Tampa where he retired.
Carter received his Masters Degree from the University of South Florida and taught in the school system for 25 years before retiring and pursuing his love of buying, refinishing and selling guitars while continuing to play lead guitar in several country bands.
Carter leaves behind his son Ronald Junkin and daughter Cathryn Michaels he was preceded in death by daughter Chrystal Junkin. He also leaves behind step daughters Martha Summerall and Mitzi Nieman he was preceded in death by step daughter Melanie Dickson and wife Carolyn Junkin. He was Grandfather to 6 granddaughters and 1 grandson.
Service to be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Hillsboro Memorial in Brandon, FL at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow.
