It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Ben Chotiner, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather, at the age of 93, on March 15th, 2025. Earl was a remarkable person who touched the lives of all who knew him with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends.
Born on August 25, 1931 in McKeesport Pennsylvania, Earl lived a full and meaningful life, filled with experiences that shaped his strong character and compassionate spirit. He relocated with his family to sunny Brandon, Florida in 1969 for a better quality of life. Throughout the years, he was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who always put others first and made a lasting impact on his community.
Earl made the conscious decision to convert from Judaism to Catholicism at 18 years old in order to marry the love of his life, Mary Ann. He continued his devotion for the next 75 years religiously. In his professional life, he began his career at the bottom sweeping floors on the docks and rose to the top, retiring as Plant Manager for the Continental Can Company at age 55, with the respect of many. In retirement, he enjoyed an active gym lifestyle 6 days a week for over 30 years, making many friends along the way.
Earl is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Ann, son Richard, brother Irving, and sisters Ruby & Esther. He is survived by his devoted son David, daughter-in-law Patricia and granddaughter Lindsay, who will carry on his legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.
A funeral service to celebrate Earl’s life will be held on Friday, March 28th, 2025. Viewing begins at 11am at Stowers Funeral Home to be followed by a mass at Nativity Catholic Church at 2pm and finally, a burial at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 3pm. Family and friends are invited to share in this time of remembrance and honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Melech Hospice House in memory of Earl Ben Chotiner.
Earl will be deeply missed, but his love, wisdom, and the lessons he taught us will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace.
