POMEROY, Everett Gary, 74, of Brandon, FL, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 10, 2019 after battling cancer. He was born in Swanton, Ohio on October 12, 1944 to parents Robert and Ruby Pomeroy and lived in Dover, FL.
Gary joined the Air Force as a young man of 20 and proudly served our country as a distinguished Military Police from 1964 thru 1968 including deployment to Vietnam during the Vietnam War. It was during this time that Gary developed his love for service animals. His beloved companion, Simba, was a constant friend during their last years together.
Gary was proud of his service, proud to be an American, proud to fight for our country’s democracy and continued his service by promoting his passion for politics and supporting leaders he believed would best serve his America. Anyone who knew him enjoyed a spirited political discussion at one time or another. He loved his country. However, nothing made Gary prouder than being a father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, doing household projects with his son Brett, and watching the volleyball games and events of his grandchildren.
Our beloved Gary is survived by his “sweet baby boy”, Brett Pomeroy (Mikauriz), loving step children Patty & Jeff, and 5 grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Alexis, Jason and Melissa. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Ruby, brother, Robert and 2 sisters, Susan and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his brother James. He will be missed by all of us.
Friends and family will be received during visitation at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 1:00 pm until the time of services at 2:00pm.
