Janice was born on August 17, 1950, in Plattsburgh, New York, to Julius Seymour and Dorothy Brown. She grew up in the small town of West Chazy, New York. She later met and married her husband, Larry, while he was stationed nearby at Plattsburgh Air Force Base.
After each military relocation, Janice would create a home, not just a place to live. She never shied away from any task whether it was winterizing an old home in the middle of an apple orchard, building a giant snowman with her daughters, or learning every rule for a sport she now followed for her grandsons.
As the family focal point, Janice devoted her life to her husband, kids, and grandkids. She would often have I Love Lucy or the Game Show Network on when family stopped by. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Janice rooted for her grandsons at every single hockey game, whether in person or remote. And yes, she even yelled at a referee or two for missing a penalty call. Janice would never turn down a game of cards and, according to the grandkids, the snacks just tasted better at Grandma's house.
Janice was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Larry. Janice is survived by her daughters, Stacey Leonard and Amy Smargon; her son-in-law, Jeff Smargon; her grandsons, Colin Smargon, Alex Smargon, and Luca Smargon; her sister, Brenda Goddeau, brother-in-law, Kevin, and their children, Ashlee and Kasey; and her brother, Terry Seymour, and his children, Nicholas, Joseph, and Adam.
