COLLINS, Jean Dee “Jo”, age 81, of Brandon, FL, passed away on December 7th in Tampa, FL. Jo Collins was born on February 5th, 1942, in Orlando, FL. Her parents were Walter and Luisa Collins. She earned degrees in history and education from Georgetown University and Indiana University, respectively. Her family was her pride and joy, and she raised three children and two grandchildren with love and devotion. Being an educator and pursuing an education influenced her in profound ways, and she was happy to have passed on that passion to her children. As the family matriarch, she leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and love. Jo is preceded in death by her parents Walter Collins, and Luisa Collins, and her daughter Rosana Bryant. Jo is survived by her son, Edwin Vélez and his wife, Basia; son, Carlos Vélez and his wife, Lisa; grandson, Matthew Bryant; grandson Joshua Bryant; grandson, Marcos Vélez; granddaughter, Isa Vélez and granddaughter Hazel Vélez. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at Hillsboro Memorial 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
