In loving memory of Jeanne Campbell Lloyd, a remarkable soul whose life was a testament to faithful love. Jeanne was born on March 3, 1938, to proud parents Tom and Edna Campbell in Poland, Ohio. An only child, her education path took her from Poland Union Elementary to Poland High School and later to pursue higher education at Emory University. These formative years laid the foundation for a life filled with adventure, purpose, and devotion to family and friends.
On a magical New Year's Eve, Jeanne crossed paths with the love of her life, Luther (Luke) Richard Lloyd, whom she married on August 29, 1959. As an active-duty US Army wife, Jeanne's life was marked by resilience, adaptability, and dedication to her family, regardless of which of the fifteen US, German, or any Middle Eastern communities the family lived. Jeanne and Luke had four children: Luther, Tom, Andy, and Cathy, and she created a home at every location the family lived, infusing it with love, warmth, and traditions that live on to this day. A few of her roles that exemplified her commitment to nurturing and guiding her children as best she could include Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout leader, wrestling referee, camping cook, and family tour guide.
Upon retiring to Freedom Plaza in Sun City Center, FL, Jeanne continued to make a profound impact on her community. She devoted her time and energy to various organizations, including Sun City Center United Methodist Church, where she was a dedicated parishioner, choir member, and Adult Sunday School teacher. Jeanne's involvement with the Retired Officer's Corporation, Military Family Support Trust, SAT-7, Daughters of the Union Veterans, Red Hat Society, and keeping current with the extended family in Wolverhampton, England, underscored her deep commitment to sharing her life with others and living out her faith daily.
In her later years, Jeanne faced health challenges with grace and resilience, navigating through macular degeneration and dementia with faith and courage. Despite these difficulties, she had a steadfast spirit which was demonstrated when upon hearing an old hymn she would natural join in the sing without hesitation.
Jeanne's legacy lives on through her children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, who continue to cherish her memory. She will be remembered fondly for her unwavering love of God, family, country, and community.
Jeanne's life will be celebrated at Freedom Plaza's auditorium on February 27, 2024. Instead of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Jeanne C. Lloyd to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online at www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
