John Phillip Coate Jr., age 49, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from a heart condition following a bypass surgery in December. He was a member of Table Church. John has been in the television business since high school, working for several T.V affiliates. Currently he was With Nextstar in Tampa. He attended Treveca University in Nashville and Valencia College in Orlando. John loved his family, the Gators, wrestling and while he was a longtime Chicago Bears fan, this year he was a Buccaneers fan. John is survived by his parents John and Dorothy Coate, brother Mike Jones and wife Sue, brother Tom Jones and Wife Daphne, brother Frank Coate, sister Vickie Griffis and Husband Randy and sister Airetta Fox and Husband Randy, Nieces; Brandy Fox, Courtney Sherman, Katie Culpepper, Mackenzie Reik, Carrie Jones, Halle Coate, Taylor Coate. Nephews; Kevin Griffis, Ty Fox, Keith Griffis, Mathew Coate. Nephew Blake Jones precedes John in death. Lots of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Great Nieces and Great Nephews and many Friends will sorely miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American heart Association.
A visitation for John will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Park Place Wesleyan Church, 4400 70th Ave. N, Pinellas Park, FL 33781. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 4:00 PM.
