She met Wade G. Breen, Jr. In France while he was there serving his country in the US Armed Forces. They were married April 4, 1959, and "Buddy" brought his new bride home to Sebring, Florida and the couple resided with his parents Wade G. Breen, Sr., and Isabel Ritenour Breen until it was possible for them to move into their own home nearby. Josette officially became a naturalized U.S. citizen October 18, 1963.
Our sweet and sassy, mom, mother-in-law, sister, grandma and friend has moved on to heaven. She departed the morning of October 16, much to all of our shock and sorrow.
Josette never met a stranger. On her best days she was playful and had a magnetic personality that was hard to resist. She only ever wanted to love and be loved in return. She was only 4'11" tall, but she did have a temper that once triggered was formidable. Josette loved crafting. She would make many handmade gifts to give to friends and family over the years. She also loved to help others and often helped out neighbors with cleaning and cooking when they were having health problems or other issues. She loved to bingo and play card games and talk and talk and talk. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling on the leagues with her husband, Buddy. She was native born French and barely spoke English when she married her American sweetheart and moved to the United States. The family moved to Brandon, Florida, in 1973.
With her sometimes overbearing European ways and somewhat nosy questions it took a while to warm up to her. But, she would always win people over with her generous, overwhelming affection. She loved music, dancing, bingo and going to the "cass-ee-no" to play the slot machines. Her infectious laughter and sparkle will be missed. She has probably already organized a bingo tournament and baked zucchini bread for all her family and friends in heaven.
Josette is survived by her sisters Micheline (Nancy, France) Yvette (Vermont) and Marice (California) and her sons, Patrick Steven Breen (Cynthia) Michael Bryan Breen (Maria) and Robert Charles Breen. Six grandchildren Diana Elisabeth Kiernan, Daniel Jay Breen, April Nicole Breen, Emo Gabriel Breen, Amanda Michelle Breen, and Michael Anthony Breen
Great grandchildren: Titus Lee Kiernan, Fiona Grace Kiernan, Cyrus Jay Breen and Sterling Michael Breen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and a sister, her husband, Buddy, her son, Timothy Wayne Breen.
She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each and every one of them - and if you knew her, you definitely knew it. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before her. She will be dearly missed.
