Kent Keller Rankin Jr.

Kent Keller Rankin Jr., 58 of Apollo Beach passed away Feb. 22. 2016. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Mon. Feb. 29 at Apollo Beach campus of Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 408 Apollo Beach Blvd. Apollo Beach. Funeral service will be held 1:30pm Tues. March 1st also at the church followed by burial at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery, Brandon. Kent was born Aug. 12th 1957 a son to Kent Sr. & Mary Moyers. He was predeceased by his parents. Surviving are his wife Kim Pena Rankin; sons Mitchell (Courtney) Rankin and Garrett Rankin; daughters Jennifer Rankin and Lindsey (Christopher) Norton; granddaughter Charley Reese Rankin; sister Virginia Taylor. Kent was co-owner of Apollo Medical Service He was a member of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Apollo Beach. Kent led a very full life. He traveled the world with IBM, where he was the leader for them during the Olympic Games. After leaving IBM he joined his dearest friend as co-owner of Apollo Medical Services. In his spare time he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his buddies, which included trips to NASCAR races and a couples' trip to South Dakota. He also loved RV trips and often took his granddaughter to Disney, staying at the campgrounds. He loved to collect guns, and although not a hunter himself, he cherished the hunting trips he took with his son. He loved vacationing with his family and friends and often took cruises, lake house trips and an occasional jaunt to the Caribbean. On a daily basis, Kent could be found having breakfast with his buddies at a local diner. Mostly, though, he loved family time, especially time spent with his granddaughter, Charley. Kent was a loving and generous man that will be dearly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to H Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
