Her Legacy: A Lifetime of Loving...
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Lillian Jeanette Dunbar West on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the age of 86 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great granchildren, extended family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jonathan R. West on April 21,2021. She met her beloved husband in Jamestown, Kentucky at a Local diner. They were married a short time later on June 13, 1951.
Lillian leaves behind three children, Stanley H. West (Jackie) of Dover, Deborah J. Smart (Ron), of Kissimmee and Jane C. Nails (Jeffrey) of Titusville, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews; all of which she loved and adored. She was also preceded in death by her parents (Ella and Stanley Bascom Dunbar), two brothers, seven sisters, one great granddaughter, and one daughter in law (Leslie).
Lillian was a warrior for Christ and her family. She was an amazing mother. Her legacy included 38 descendants. Her messages included "Take your children to church" and "Love Jesus."
After she and Jonathan raised their children and he retired from Boilermakers Local #433, she and Jonathan enjoyed traveling, worshipping, serving, and just being grandparents. They were always together. She loved music and enjoyed a little country, 1950’s rockabilly and a lifetime of hymns. Most importantly, above anything, she loved Jesus and was a committed Christian who was actively involved with church and serving God. She was a member of the Christian Church all of her life. Lillian was known for her care, love and protective spirit of others. Jonathan and Lillian's dream was to create a family legacy serving Jesus. She endured decades of severe illnesses and pain; and looked forward this last year to joining her husband, Jonathan in heaven. She was comforted in these last months by her love of Jesus and constant presence of her family.
