Melissa Carter

Born on June 25, 1971, in Kentucky, Melissa was the beloved daughter of Hattie Mercer and James Carter. She grew up with a spirit of determination and kindness, which she carried throughout her life. Melissa attended Brandon High School, where she began to forge lifelong friendships and a deep connection to her community.

On July 30, 2017, Melissa married her soulmate, Carlton Cantrell, in a beautiful ceremony in Brandon, Florida. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and support.

With a remarkable career in hospitality that spanned over 20 years, Melissa was known for her dedication and passion for serving others. Her vibrant personality and infectious smile made her a beloved figure in her workplace and among her friends.

Melissa is preceded in death by her parents, Hattie and James, who will forever hold a special place in her heart.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Carlton Cantrell; her cherished daughter, Maegan Huskin; and her two adored grandchildren, Zarrick and Zariah Huskin. Melissa's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A gathering to celebrate Melissa's life will be held on November 12, 2024, at 12:00 PM, followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM. The service will take place at Hillsboro Memorial, located at 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in the form of donations to the American Heart Association.
