Ronald Joseph Schmitt

Ronald Schmitt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 11, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Ron lived a life defined by passion, family, and quiet strength.

Ron found his calling in retail, a career path that brought him great joy—not only for the work itself but for the most important connection it brought him: his wife, Lois. The two were married on March 10, 1978. Their nearly five decades together were filled with love, partnership, and family.

A lifelong adventurer at heart, Ron especially loved the thrill and freedom of racing his catamaran sailboat. Whether cutting across open waters or spending time with loved ones onshore, he embraced life with enthusiasm and spirit.

Ron is preceded in death by his father, Robert Schmitt; his mother, Jeannette Schmitt; his beloved daughter, Tammy Counts; and his cherished granddaughter, Taylor Counts. Their memories remained close to his heart always.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois Schmitt; his children Brian Schmitt, Lorrie Schmitt, Christie Vetter, and Ashley Schmitt; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren all of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life.

Ron will be remembered for his steady presence, deep love for his family, and the quiet way he made life better for those around him. His legacy sails on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
