Rose Karpinski

KARPINSKI, Rose E., formerly of Bennett Street Montoursville, PA., entered into eternal life with our Lord on January 20, 2013 in Riverview, Florida where she resided during winter months and as a permanent resident since 2007. Rose will always be remembered as a caring and loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born on May 30 in the one-time mining village of Hickory Swamp near Shamokin, PA. She was the daughter of Louis F. and Josephine (Anuszkiewicz) Lishewski. She retired from the former Britts Department store as a sales associate having worked there from its opening to the closing of the store. As a homemaker, she was remembered as an accomplished cook of ethnic foods. She had an interest in local and state politics and worked as an election official in Montoursville’s Third Ward for many years. Rose attended St. Anthony Parochial School in Ranshaw, PA and Coal Township schools. She was married to Joseph R. Karpinski on July 1, 1950. They would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary this summer. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Montoursville and the St. Francis Seraficki Auxiliary, Shamokin. She is survived by her husband, a son, Joseph E. and his spouse Sue; sisters, Angeline (Adolph) Wall, Montoursville, Eleanor (Chester) Koproski, Augustaville, Florence (Hubert) Clifford, Coal Township, and Mary Lishewski, Coal Township; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Tim) Getsay, Brentwood, TN, Andrea Karpinski, Aldan, PA and Alexa Karpinski, Nashville, TN; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine Getsay. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Rose’s memory will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Valrico, FL. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes and interment will be in Mount Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Emmitsburg, MD at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or Mount Saint Mary’s University.
