Roy was born on March 11, 1952, to Thelma (Teddy) and Arthur (Artie) Glasser in Brooklyn, NY. Roy and his sister Fran grew up in a house filled love. After Arties’s death in 1969, Thelma married Sam Buchman in 1972, and they went on to have a very happy life together.
After Roy graduated from Mepham HS in 1969, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science at Stony Brook University in 1973. He also attended Hofstra University to study accounting, and eventually became a CPA. Throughout his career he served as both a CPA and a Chief Financial Officer. After retiring in 2015, Roy served as a consultant to both Price Waterhouse and Stonebridge Insurance.
In 1998, he met his wife Judi, the love of his life. They wed in 1999, and blended their families with Roy’s children; Allison, Roxanne, and Dawn, and Judi’s children; Scott, Tom, and Meredith. Roy loved and took great pride in each of his grandchildren- Donovan Griffith (Allison), Hailey & Robert Collins III (Roxanne), Nicole, Christina, Warren & Thomas Hirt (Dawn), Caleb & Collin Higgins (Scott), and Amanda & Dawson Scribner (Meredith). His later years brought him immense joy with the births of his great grandchildren Alyssa (Nicole), Lorelai, Paxton, and Andrew (Collin & Tori), and Emma & and Ivy (Caleb &Tiffani).
Throughout his life, Roy was a huge fan of baseball & hockey. One of Roy’s fondest memories was when he and Judi went to Cooperstown, NY to see his all-time favorite baseball player, Gil Hodges, make it into The Hall of Fame in 2022. Roy was also a huge fan of The Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as his favorite Clearwater Ice Storm goalie, 10-year-old Aedan Heaverin; and lovingly referred to himself as Aedan’s “agent”.
Roy was predeceased by his father, Arthur (Artie) Glasser, his mother Thelma (Teddy) Glasser Buchman, his stepfather, Sam Buchman, and his granddaughter Nicole Hirt. He is survived by his loving wife Judi Glasser; his sister Fran Ackerman (Brian); his children Allison Griffith (Randy), Roxanne Collins (Rob), Dawn Randazzo, Scott Higgins (Cheryl), Tom Higgins (Kemp Rader), and Meredith Scribner (Rich); grandchildren Donovan Griffith (Crystal), Hailey Collins, Robert Collins III, Christina Hirt, Warren Hirt, Thomas Hirt (Dawn), Caleb Higgins (Tiffani), Collin Higgins (Tori), Amanda Scribner, and Dawson Scribner; as well as family members, Ruthie Ackerman (Rob), Alissa Ackerman-Acklin (Angela), and Acks Ackerman (Emilie).
Roy’s ultimate wish on earth was for everyone to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He is quoted as saying, “But there is one who most inspires me these days, and that is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Him life would be miserable. He’s definitely my guiding light. He does all things for our good. Read that again, don’t miss it.” His family is blessed in the knowledge that we will see him again, and that he is healed and rejoicing in Heaven.
