David Marshall Shiels

Suddenly at the Brantford General Hospital on Thursday April 21, 2016 in his 87th year. Loving husband of Doreen. Beloved father of Gail and Brian Merritt, Donna Ferguson, Susan Hager and Ernie Gawdun and family. Dear grandfather of Brenda Goodbrand, Shelby Merritt, Julie and Terry Skoretz and Brett and Jill Ferguson. Dear great grandfather of Brittany and Gerry, Curtis, Reece, Rowan, Quinn, Conlan, Landon and Natalie. Brother of Pat Hart and Carol and Bill Nolan and brother-in-law of Helen White and Glenn and Mary Carr. He will be fondly remembered by other extended family and friends. Dave had a very successful career in both manufacturing and sales. He was a long standing active member of Sydenham United Church, a board member for over 60 years and a member of Northridge Golf Club. Dave was an avid sports fan which included the Blue Jays along with a passion for golf . He will be missed by his many golfing buddies. The family will receive friends at the “Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home and Chapel” 96 West Street on Monday April 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Celebration of his life will be held in the chapel on Tuesday April 26th at 11:00 am. Interment at Oakhill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Sydenham United Church would be appreciated.
