

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Bernice Simon announces her passing, surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday March 2nd 2025 at the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Joseph (2017). Loving mother to Patricia McLeod, the late Paul, Mary, Michael, and Jane (Brian) Drehmer. Cherished grandmother to Zachary, Dalton, and Connor, and treasured great-grandmother to Dayson and Gryffin. She will also be lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family and step grandchildren in Fisherville; Theresa, Allison, and Josh, of Paris, Christine of Brantford, her lifelong friend Madge Walkinson, and her furry companion Oliver. Joan is predeceased by her parents Malcolm and Mary Wilson, and brothers Malcolm, Walter, Joseph, and Bernard and sisters Florence Richardson, Marie Walters, and Jean Grundy. Joan was a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in the Operating Room in Hamilton, and returned to St. Joseph's Hospital in Brantford in 1955, where she became evening supervisor until retirement. Her love of golf and travel allowed her many treasured years, with longtime friends and family. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. McNeil, Shelley and the entire team at Stedman Hospice - Hankinson House, who made Joan's journey one of peace and comfort. The family will receive friends at Thorpe Bros. Funeral Home, 96 West St., Brantford, on Friday March 7th from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 9 Waverly St., Brantford, on Saturday March 8th 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
