Born in Nowogard, Poland, and later raised in the village of Tylawa in southern Poland, John remained proud of his Lemko roots throughout his life. He came to Canada in 1972, where he built a life through hard work, determination and resilience.
John began his career as a butcher, learning his trade through dedication and a commitment to excellence. His entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen eventually led him and his wife, Daphne, to establish D&J Sausage Factory. Together, they owned and operated the business for over 20 years, building it into a well-known and respected Brantford landmark. Many customers, friends and members of the community came to know him as “The Sausage King of Brantford.”
John was known for his intelligence, resilience, resourcefulness, strong work ethic and unwavering determination. He never forgot where he came from.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Daphne; his daughter, Christine; his brothers, Walter (Diane), Alex (Ola), and George (Barbara); and his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was a proud uncle to Tom (Zoia), Peter (Anna), Krys (Rebecca), Monika (Bob), Alexandra, Dorothy, Anna (Heather) and Gosia (Julian). John will be remembered by his family, friends, former colleagues, customers, and the many people who knew him throughout the community.
