

With thanksgiving for the life of our wonderful Mom, the family of Mildred Kennedy announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, in her 102nd year. Joyfully reunited with her husband, John, who predeceased her in 2000. Loving mother of Fidel and her husband, Dr. Ian McQuistan, Jack Kennedy ( Barbara, Deceased ) and Floyd Kennedy and his wife, Glenna. Much loved Grandma of Jennifer Sinclair, Colin McQuistan, John Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy and Paula Kennedy-Newton. Also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Tremblay. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Grace and her brothers Lorne and Lennox Tremblay. Mildred was a retired teacher from the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. During her 32 year career, she taught at St. Mary's School, Providence College and St. John's College. She was a truly dedicated teacher and coach, achieving great success with her girls' sports teams. In her retirement, Mildred became an accomplished stained glass artisan. Above all else, she was a lady...with grace and dignity, wisdom and kindness. She will live in our hearts forever. The family wishes to thank the St. Joseph's Lifecare RNs, the staff of Oriole Ave. and Dr. John Hadley for your compassion and care. Our deepest gratitude to Mary Barber whose friendship and kindness meant so much to Mildred over the past five years. Visitation will be held at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West Street, on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 6-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 133 Murray Street, on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
