I grew up on Dufferin Ave just down the street from the Spencer family. I was friends with Chris and Mark - I also remember Paula and Nancy quite well. I have memories of walking to Christ the King School with them, tobogganing at W. Ross MacDonald School and skating in Lincoln Park. I always remember how friendly and welcoming Mr. and Mrs. Spencer were to me. Approximately five years ago I ran into Mrs. Spencer while out for a walk in the neighbourhood. I approached her and told her who I was. Mrs. Spencer’s face lit up as she said “Billy Haber. It’s been so long. How are you?”....it brought me right back to my childhood and the warmth of Mrs. Spencer that I remember. Mrs. Spencer, along with Mr. Spencer, raised a wonderful family and made their community a better place. I know Mrs. Spencer will be dearly missed by those she loved. My deepest heartfelt condolences to Mr. Spencer and the entire Spencer family. My prayers are with you.
