Robert "Bob" Michael May

28 March, 19332 May, 2021

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Joseph’s Lifecare on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the age of 88. Loving husband of 67 years to Catherine May (Dakin), recently deceased. Survived by his brother John “Jack” May and his sister Beverly McKerrall. Proud father of Lori (Tony) Petrella, Bob (Lynne) May, Katie (Mike) Boake, and Michael (Jayne) May. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Michael, Terry (Trish), Paul, Derek, Alisha, Christopher and Jonathan, as well as his great grandchildren Braeden and Makella. Family was central to Dad’s purpose in life, and he will be missed dearly by his children. Bob spent most of his time tinkering in the garage or searching the countryside for car parts and collectibles. He was a long-time member of the Historical Automobile Society of Canada (HASC). Family is comforted that Mom and Dad are “cruising” together again. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre for the exceptional care of both Mom and Dad during these challenging times. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre or the Alzheimer Society of Brant. Share memories or online condolences by visiting

Sorry to hear of Bob’s passing, so soon after Cathy - very sad time. Bob was a dear lifelong friend of my father, Ralph Tipper. They shared a love of cars and had many good times, along with Bob’s wife, Cathy, and my mother, Jean. Sending condolences to all the family and please let us know of the service.

Dear Lori, Michael, and family
I was so sorry to learn about the death of your father and of your mother. I was hoping to tell them about the progress of your great-aunt's books at Carleton. Alas, Covid-19, as you can well imagine, has closed the Library and a great many other things at the U.

I have always been grateful to your father for looking after my house for so many years, and to your mother for her kindness and encouragement on the aforementioned book project.

Please let me know when/if you have a service for them. In the meantime, please give my sympathy to your family. Losing both parents in a few months must be very hard, especially during Covid-19.

Bev and I are so sorry to hear of the death of your father and Bev's brother. It is so hard to lose a loved one and a parent and to lose both mom and dad in a couple of months is so sad.

I remember having many conversations with Bob about his cars. I remember seeing and talking to him about the Bricklin he had. Do not see many of them around.

Bev and I also enjoyed stopping in and visiting with Bob and Cathy and family member Christmas Days when we were back in the Brantford area. It was enjoyable to get caught up on the family news.

Even though Bob has passed you will always have loving memories of him and Cathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May you all be blessed.

Jim and Bev McKerrall (Aunt Bev)
