Dee, called Cookie by her family, went home to be with the Lord on June 20. She was 71. Born to Edward and Helen Erickson of Rocky Point, the youngest of four siblings, she loved growing up on Phinney Bay, swimming, boating and riding the family horses. She graduated from West High class of 1960 and attended business college in Seattle. She met and married William L. Soule of Bremerton July 3, 1965. They later divorced. There were no children. Dee moved to Bellevue, WA in 1974 and worked for the Retirement and Assisted Living Industry in administration and was later promoted to event coordinator and program director. She met her husband Ted through their church and was married October 17, 1992. She was active in their church teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and served on the evangelism committee. In October of 1994, she traveled with the mission team to the Philippines, ministering to the church they established in many villages there. Dee and her husband loved the outdoors hiking, riding horses, snorkeling and fishing in Alaska. They also enjoyed the opera, ballet and the symphony. In October of 2001, they moved to Bremerton and settled on the eastside. During their retirement years they enjoyed beach combing and bird watching on the Olympic Peninsula beaches hiking on Hurricane Ridge, and attending the yearly “Concerts in the Barn” in Quilicene with their church friends. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening at the family home on Rocky Point, tutoring second graders at Naval Ave School and serving in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary with her brothers. Her favorite indoor projects were making get-well and Christmas cards for Children’s Hospital in Seattle and for our wounded troops during the Iraq war. She also enjoyed making memory albums for her extended family. Her outlook on life, “Love the Lord and put Him first, do good, treat people right and everything will fall into place. I’ve lived a blessed life.” She is survived by her husband; a sister, Roberta Scott (Jim) of Kenmore, WA; a brother, Robert Erickson of Bremerton; nieces Lori Buswell (Scott) of Camano Is.; Ann Pettit (Roger) of Bartlesville, OK; nephews Jeffery Erickson (Lisa) of Port Orchard; David Scott (Lisa) of SLC, UT; and numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. A celebration of life is pending.
