Douglas Vern Hooper, 93, passed away at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil on Oct. 21, 2012. He was born Dec. 12, 1918 in Spokane. He married Theda Reneau in 1943, and married Jean Anderson Gauthier in 1966.
Douglas was a World War II veteran, and a survivor of the bombing of Darwin Harbor, Australia. After his military service, he went on to work as an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Shop 99, retiring after 32 years.
Douglas was the beloved father of two loving sons, Warren and Kenneth Hooper; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Douglas will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Retsil Cemetery.
