

Katherine was born on May 1, 1935 in Kennewick WA to Percy and Vivian (Marberg) Sellick and grew up in Everett, WA.
She was a graduate of Everett High School, earned an Associate in Arts and Sciences degree at Everett Junior College, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Washington in 1957.
Katherine Married James Page Smith on June 24, 1955 in Everett, WA. They were married until James’ death in 2004.
She worked as a part time bookkeeper for her parents’ business for several years when her children were young, and enjoyed working as a Librarian with the Kitsap Regional Library for over 25 years, retiring in 2006.
Katherine also volunteered with the nonprofit Tracyton Community Library when it separated from the Kitsap Regional Library in 1987 until the Covid Pandemic temporarily closed it in 2020. She was a member of Tracyton United Methodist Church.
Katherine traveled extensively, was a voracious reader, a talented gardener, and enjoyed playing card games with her companion Marvin Mocan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Marvin Sellick; her husband James; her son James Jr.; and grandsons Colin and Kyle Smith.
Katherine’s memory will live on with her daughter, Sharon Vicic (Silvester) of St. Paul, MN; son, Mark Smith (Diane Ziel) of Poulsbo, WA; daughter, Mary Kay Fridley (Ken) of Renton, WA; son, Kevin Smith of Tracyton, WA; and grandchildren; Evan Vicic (Laura), Chelsea Smith, William Vicic, David Fridley, Julia Vicic, and Ethan Fridley.
Interment is with her husband James and son James Jr. at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Kitsap Way in Bremerton WA.
A memorial service will be at 2 PM Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Tracyton United Methodist Church, 5153 Naomi Ave, NW, Bremerton, WA 98311.
