Margo was raised in Seaside, Oregon and graduated from Seaside High School in 1960. She married James Scott on February 27, 1965 and moved to Bremerton where they raised their family.
As an active member of Chico Alliance Church, she served in children’s and women’s ministries and was a pianist and an organist for more than twenty years. Margo was hired as a pre-school teacher when Chico Christian Daycare and Pre-school opened in 1974. She taught three-year-old, four-year-old and Pre-Kindergarten classes until 1985. She resigned when her first grandchild was born to bask in her new role as Mimi.
Apache Junction, Arizona became her new winter home when James retired in 1993. Margo very quickly assimilated into the retirement community culture. Recognized for her musical talents, she was asked to be the pianist for the church at Golden Vista RV Park, which was her joy for nineteen years. She also accompanied many of the park’s musical groups and USO shows. Golden Vista offered opportunities galore and she enjoyed participating in many of the available clubs, classes and events. Through this social network she met many new friends from all over the United States and Canada.
Summers were spent travelling together with James in their motorhome. Margo enjoyed the many visits with family, friends, and places of interest she discovered while researching genealogy.
Margo was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2017 and after the prescribed treatments failed, she elected to entered hospice care.
Margo was preceded in death by her son, Ronald E. Scott, and her parents, Alva Ray and Merle Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, James Scott; her children: Robin Swain, Yvonne Jones, and Jon Scott; her siblings: Dixie Adkins and Laroy Smith.
