

Marjorie Rea Macon was born in Opelika, Alabama on February 10, 1936 to the late Sylvester and Johnnie Burton. She was united in marriage to Robert C. Macon on April 18, 1956 in Opelika, Alabama. She entered Heaven’s gates on July 22, 2015.
She accepted Christ early in life. Her walk with the Lord was demonstrated throughout her life. She was a long time member of United Methodist Church at Lakewood. Over the years she was very involved with the church. She taught the Children's Moments at the beginning of service and a member of the church choir.
Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, she was known for her contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her constant nurturing love and faith. Her gift of joy, shown through her signature smile and laughter will never be forgotten.
She attended J.W. Darden High School in Opelika, AL, Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL and Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, CA.
Marjorie was a life time member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Over the years, she had become very involved as the Chaplain, President and assisted with numerous fundraising events. She was in the Eastern Stars and the Golden Circle. For several years she visited many schools portraying Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. She provided baby blankets to hospitals for mothers in need, provided hats and scarfs to needy elementary school children and supported the John Tracy Foundation for the blind. She loved music, played the saxophone and the piano.
Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, bowling, upholstery, crocheting, knitting and many other crafts. Over the years she collected thimbles and spoons, milk glasses and angels.
Marjorie Macon, also known as “Hot Mama” was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and a child of God. She made everyone feel special and loved helping others. Her smile and sweet spirit will always be remembered.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Macon, WA, three children; Dianna (Chris) Richards, KY, Jacqueline Macon, MI and Donna Macon, WA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Shammarrah Norris, DeJarik Macon, Stacey Macon, and Shunetta Macon, three great grandchildren, Ajanaya Macon, Ariyanna Macon-Palacios, and Te’Anna Wilkins all of Washington. She is also survived by one brother James (Mattie) Burton, AL, two sisters Frances (Eddie) Brooks, GA and Maretta (David) Vaughn, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at United Methodist Church of Lakewood, 6900 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 3:00 PM at the church. Reception will be on 8/6 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at AMVETS Post 1, 5717 S. Tyler St. Tacoma, WA 98409.
