OTIS ROBINSON
March 2, 1941~ January 3, 2020
Otis Robinson was born to the late James & Sadie Robinson, in Greenville, South Carolina on March 2, 1941. Otis was fourth child out of thirteen siblings. Otis attended school at Gower Street Elementary; Nichol Town Jr. High School, and Sterling High School. In March 1958, at the young age of 17 Otis joined the US Navy and became one of the first African American deep sea diver. In April 1978, Otis retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. Otis has accomplished a lot of achievements in his lifetime. He was a reserve Police Officer for the City of Bremerton Washington; the President of the Bremerton NAACP; a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge F & AM; he retired as a Building Inspector for both the City of Bremerton and Kitsap County. Otis is a life member of FRA Association Branch# 29 of Bremerton, Washington. Life member of DAV; Member of VFW#2669 of Bremerton, Washington.
He was predeceased in death by his wife Annalisa. He is survived by his five (5) children Otis Bernard Gowens; LaTonjia Marie Jones (Deryl); Otis Robinson, Jr.; Hiram Jerome Robinson; Vincent James Robinson (Cynthia); his three (3) step-children Sandra Guillen; Mike Guillen and Manuela Guillen; survived by four (4)siblings Jerry Robinson (Linda); Perry Robinson (Telly); Eleanor Bowens; and Shirley Jones; eight (8) grand children Charita Trice; Micah Trice; Trey Robinson; Torey Robinson; Abigail Robinson; Jameka Gowens; Tiarah Gowens;Danesha Gowens and three great grandchildren, numerous, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Navy Fleet Reserve #29.
There is no sorrow that Heaven can not heal.
