I served with  Russell Odell Emerson in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner on board the USS Robert E. Lee SSBN -601 in the 1980s.
 Russ was a good sailor and as a Submariner he was in the top 10%  of the smartest sailors in the USN.
  Please remember Submariners are volunteers. Russel volunteered to knowingly place himself in harms way to protect you and your family. Additionally and amazingly he protected even those individuals who don't believe in truth, justice freedom and the American way. Russ was always a kind hatred and good fried to all his shipmates and he contributed greatly to our Nation's Defense during the height of the cold war. Thank you for your service Russell. In later years 2004 I moved to Seabeck, WA. to work for Lockheed Martin on Submarines as a Engineer. Russ worked at the Newberry Hill Store and we rekindled our friendship again. 
  I am thankful to God for my friendship with Russ and I will miss his smiling face. God Bless him and rest his soul he is on Eternal Patrol as all fellow Submariners say.

Russell, you will be missed, our family seeing you at work, you knew us, our kids, our routeen, people take that for granted, wish we would of taken more time than just buying gas or coffee, should of drank coffee with you. You are missed!
