

Anthony William Jenkins was born on February 16, 1965, to William Banks, Jr., and Marie Elizabeth Jenkins. He was born in Washington, DC, and raised in Maryland. Anthony passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Holy Cross Hospital. His main goal in life was to use his talents to serve God!
Anthony loved art, drawing, reading, and collecting books and music of all genres. As a child, he was obsessed with collecting comic books. His karate-inspired passion for martial arts and self-defense led to teaching his martial art style at the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, Spirit Anacostia Health and Wellness Center, and YMCA as well as to the youth in the community.
Anthony attended DuVal High School. Anthony’s journey then led him to pursue several careers in the property management field, where he worked for over 20 years. In 1989, Anthony’s began a second career as a security officer then as a Special Police Officer (SPO). He most recently worked as an SPO for Admiral Security and part-time security under PChange Protective Services. Anthony was most proud of providing security for both of President Obama’s Inauguration Balls. He also took great pride in earning a Master Close Range Combat Instructor with years of experience as a practitioner, teacher, and student of the martial arts in several disciplines. In addition, he taught the DC Chapter of the Guardian Angels and was featured on Fox 5 News in close-range combat.
Anthony was intelligent, charming, and had a sense of humor. He was an avid reader, visionary, and dreamer with a wealth of knowledge and learning. He loved his family and spent time with them when he wasn’t tirelessly working two jobs. During the holidays, he would always find time to stop by to get a home-cooked meal. Yes, a brother could throw down! He enjoyed meeting people and got along with everyone in his own special way.
Anthony was predeceased by his father, William Banks Jr. He leaves to cherish his mother, Marie Jenkins- Banks; sisters Yvette Jenkins, Victoria Jenkins, Anna Banks, Sonya Cobbs, Elizabeth Batts, Elaine Clark, Ellen Clark, and Estelle Ackles; special brother Robert Edward Butler III; brothers; Edward Clark III, Eric Clark; beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
