Buck was born in Lynchburg, VA and graduated from FW Ballou High School in SE Washington, D.C. in 1977. He honorably served in the Army for 15 and ½ years where he traveled to various countries and earned several Army medals, letters of commendations and appreciations, such as Tank Crew Examiner, Platoon Evaluator and Tank Commander, to name a few. Buck then transitioned to a career with NJ Transit, where he earned NJ Transit’s Distinguished Service Awards and Letters of Commendation. He ultimately retired after 25 committed years.
A loyal Redskins fan (no matter how many times they disappointed him), Buck loved watching and talking about sports. He also enjoyed anything that involved time together with friends and family, especially games, which allowed for his competitive spirit to shine through. He loved a good game of poker, spades, bid whist, mow mow, dominoes, chess and bowling. Buck could spark up conversation with just about anyone, whether it was about sports or a spirited debate on politics, he could go on for hours. Also, he loved to move, it could be taking walks, or two-stepping to music, he was always on the go. Buck had a strong passion for music and rediscovered his love for DJing. Old school R&B were his favorites. Frankie Beverly & Maze, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Temptations, you name it, he loved it.
Family meant everything to Buck. If he had a day with family/friends, filled with fellowship, games and laughter, he’d say it was the absolute perfect day. Quality time was the most precious thing to him and he made sure not to waste one minute of it.
Buck is survived by his two children, Jazzmon and DeVonta; his three grandchildren, Issac, Kylee and Jace; his four sisters Constance, Linda, Roselle and Denise; and his Aunts Cynthia and Amanda. Buck was predeceased by his son Michael; Mother, Hilda; Father, Leewood Sr. and brother Leewood Jr.
Buck and his jovial spirit will be sorely missed by his family and friends but his bright light will shine forever.
