Boots was born in Washington DC on August 6, 1938 to the late Berton A. Bromwell Sr. and Virginia Harris Bromwell. He was brother to Dwight Bromwell (deceased). Boots served in the U.S. Coast Guard and attended Bryant University in Rhode Island. He later went on to run Bromwell’s, The Fireplace People a family owned company since 1873. He was a member of Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA) for many years, sitting on the board of directors for 6 years, and serving as Chairman in 1999. In July 2000, Boots retired and spent his time golfing and playing cards with family and friends in Virginia and North Carolina. He enjoyed all sports particularly local DC teams such as the Washington Redskins and the Washington Nationals. Boots was loved by his family and many friends and he valued these relationships as evidenced by his favorite phrase “I don’t care what we are doing as long as we are doing it together”.
Boots is survived by his wife of 32 years, Bev, and his children Jenny Wilson (Harry), Joel Bromwell, Karl Bromwell (Kristen), Kraig Bromwell (Kathy), Kurt Bromwell (Jenny) and many grandchildren.
