

Charles Herman Clark died suddenly on July 9, 2020 from a heart attack at Washington Hospital Center. Charles was born on May 22,1930 to Elwood and Fannie Clark in Washington, D.C. He was the youngest of four children. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brothers William and Andrew Clark and his sister Gwendolyn Wilson.
Charles graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C. He was a government employee and retired from the Government Printing Office. Charles was a devout Catholic who attended mass at both Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Franciscan Monastery. For many years he was a member of the Holy Name Society at Saint Francis de Sales. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially gardening.
Charles married the love of his life Lily Guy on February 24,1950. Together they would have four daughters. On February 24,2020 the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Alzheimer's disease took away his mobility and memory, but not the love he had for his family.
Charles is survived by his wife Lily Clark; daughters Sandra Clark, Charlene Clark-Smith, Sherri Clark and Kathleen Clark-Bland; grandchildren Elliott Clark Smith and Leah Elizabeth Bland; son-in-laws Kurt Smith, Padra Bland and Karl Richardson along with countless neighbors and friends.
A private homegoing ceremony and burial will be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
