November 21, 1926 – December 10, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Kibler, who left us peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 99. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she touched the lives of everyone she met with warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion.
Betty was born on November 21,1926 in Mt. Rainier, MD to Henry C. and Anne K. Behneman. Growing up in great depression, she had memories of her mother who purchased a chocolate bar that she and her 3 siblings had to split. She went to McKinley High School and received her bachelor's degree from Wilson Teachers College. Betty loved being a teacher. She taught at Concordia Lutheran School, Chillum Elementary, and Beltsville Elementary. She enjoyed taking her classes on field trips to enhance what they had learned at school.
Betty married her sweet Milton on August 5, 1952. They had three children Jim, Fred, and Helen. Over the years the family has grown to include grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even 2 great great grandchildren.
Betty was continually active in church activities at her home church Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church as well as Grace Lutheran Church By-The-Sea (Outer Banks, NC), St. Stephen Lutheran (Williamsburg, VA), and Holy Cross Lutheran Church (Greenbelt, MD). She also volunteered for Help by Phone for many years.
Betty also enjoyed traveling. She made trips to California, Mexico, and a trip to Hawaii which she especially loved as she was able to bring her mother for the experience. She loved gardening and reading as hobbies.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Janna), Fred, and Helen (Waymond); her grandchildren, Melissa, Bambi, Dora, Courtney, Travis, and Alex; as well as grand, great grandchildren, a great great grandchild and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry C. and Anne K. Behneman; her brothers George, Bob and John Behneman; her husband, Milton and her great grandson Joshua Kibler.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Dec.20,2025 at 11am (visitation at 10am., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Rainier, MD. All who knew and loved Betty are welcome to join us as we remember her beautiful soul. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in her honor.
Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing that Betty will forever be with us in spirit. Her love will continue to guide us, and her memory will live on in the stories we share and the lessons she taught us.
