Aunt Felda was my first babysitter. My mom taught her how to change my diaper. She took me to school for  show  and tell  when she was only in first grade because she was so proud to be a auntie as I grew up, I was so proud that she was my auntie I could come to her for anything good, bad or indifferent she would always have an answer for me and would not make me feel bad about myself. I am truly going to miss her, but I know that now she does not have to suffer. Any more pain and she did prepare me for this so I will not cry. I love you auntie forever and ever your first niece Karen.

Felda was deeply loved and brought so much joy to so  many.  Praying God will give you peace during this time of grief.  She earned her wings and is reunited with her sister, Rose.🌹

Felda was a force of nature. It’s hard to believe she’s gone. I have so many memories of my vibrant, vocal cousin. She was wild, witty and generous. Felda was always passing on her  knowledge to the younger generation. I remember being at the Varney Street reunion when she was teaching some children how to do a cartwheel.  She was the only person I knew who could still do cartwheels in her 50’s. There was another time when she decided to impart some of her knowledge to my niece and granddaughter. As they came strutting down the stairs at my parent’s house I asked them what was going on. They replied “Felda is teaching us how to be divas.”
With her, there was never a dull moment. She always let her presence be known, and her presence will surely be missed.

Felda Jean,
I’m going to miss you, my baby sister. Born only thirteen months apart, but we were so much closer than that. We were always there for each other in good times and bad times. You were the first person I would call when I needed advice on anything and everything or just to get your opinion. You were the thunder and the lightning of our family, and I was always the quiet storm but when you put us both together, we are one. It’s so hard to say goodbye to a special part of me.

I am a hospice volunteer. I visit the in-patient care unit weekly where Felda stayed for several weeks. I spent time exclusively with her for 5 Sundays of my 3-hour shifts and, nearing the end, I visited her daily. There was something about her that completely enchanted me. When I first met her, I was told she was fully in control of what she wanted. I was a tiny bit intimidated because I did’t want to be a bother and it was not easy to follow her speech. I will remember her brilliant smile, an occasional wink, her calling me "my girl", holding her hand, and the courage that she showed in every moment. I thank God  that I knew her, if only for a moment in time, and I will remember her always.

Felda was my sister’s dear friend, and my other big sister. 

I remember her being the first person in the neighborhood to leave Varney Street and move to Washington D.C. We were so proud of her accomplishments. When I started my own business in 2020, Felda offered helped to me. 

This a photo of the three of us heading to Mt. Zion Baptist church when I was 6 years old. Felda was family. Nothing greater can be said. She was truly a Sister-In-Heart. 

Rest In Power, Felda. We celebrate you being home with God, and so many other people who love you.❤️🙏🏽

To my son’s friend Robert & his family I want to extend my love & support. This has not been an easy time. Know this Robert, your mom was proud of you and all of what you’ve accomplished and done for her. Remember she loves you always and that will never change. She still with you just in a different way. 🙏🏾
