March 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Williams. She is survived by her brothers, Ronald (Donna) and Marty; her nephew, Burman; and a host of other relatives in Tennessee and South Carolina.
Gilda was born and raised in Washington, DC and attended DC public schools. She was a former Girl Scout and debutante and graduated from Anacostia High School in 1968.
Gilda worked for several years for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and later, she was one of the telephone
consultants on the television show, “America’s Most Wanted”. She also took pride in her years as an employee at the Federal Emergency Management Agency and in serving as a poll worker in Prince George’s County Maryland, during local and national elections.
“Doone,” as her brothers affectionately called her, had a deep love for the Lord and was a quiet and gentle servant. That servant spirit and devotion to family was evident as she was the caregiver for our mother for over a year until our mother’s passing in 1995. For fun and relaxation, Gilda loved listening to R&B and gospel music, cooking and eating good food. In recent years, she enjoyed attending the Bill Pickett Rodeo held each year in Upper Marlboro Maryland.
Gilda was a private, loving and caring spirit and she will be missed by family and friends. May she rest in peace and may her legacy and memory be always in our hearts.
